Numbers matching, two owner coupe with excellent paint and chrome.

This 1969 Jaguar XKE is a Series II coupe that was acquired in 2007 in Hollywood, California, from a family of long-term previous owners by a collector in Long Beach, California. The new owner subsequently commissioned a refurbishment including a repaint in metallic green, the addition of leather and suede materials to the black interior, rechromed bumpers, and more. Power is from a numbers-matching 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, and an engine-out service in 2014 included new seals and gaskets as well as replacement suspension bushings. This XKE is offered with a triple SU carburetor setup, an owner's manual, a blue California license plate, a decade of records, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean California title.

Originally Daimler Silver Grey, the car has been finished in metallic green PPG paint with a clear coat. A pre-refurbishment photo in the gallery shows the car with a dent above the right-rear wheel, and several dings were also repaired prior to the repaint, although the seller reports that no rust removal was required. Mid-refurbishment photos are also available in the gallery.
Chrome 15″ wire wheels are equipped with earless spinner nuts and mounted with Winston Classic whitewall radial tires.

The interior was reupholstered in black leather and gray suede in place of previous leather and vinyl trim on the seats, door panels, dash top, headliner, sun visors, and cargo area. The steering wheel was also replaced during the refurbishment, and the gauge rings and defroster trim were chromed. A modern Jensen CD player is mounted ahead of the gearshift.

The driving video shows operation of the gauges, which include a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,000-rpm redline. The 5-digit odometer shows 84k miles. Approximately 10k of which were added by the current owner, reportedly including on trips from Los Angeles to San Diego and Monterey.

The 4.2L inline-six is mounted under a front-hinged bonnet and equipped with dual Stromberg carburetors and an electronic ignition. An engine-out service in 2014 involved replacement of the gaskets at the timing cover, oil pan, and exhaust manifold as well as the rear main seal. A new water pump, rebuilt brake calipers, replacement rear disc brakes, and fresh suspension bushings were also installed as documented in three XKs Unlimited invoices in the gallery, and the carburetors were reportedly rebuilt at the same time.

Engine stamping #7R1799-9 matches the current chassis plate as well as the removed older chassis plate and Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate shown below.

A stainless steel exhaust system was installed during the work 10 years ago.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate states that this car was manufactured on October 15, 1968, in silver over black and dispatched for New York two weeks later. The original chassis, body, engine, and transmission numbers are also listed.

A triple SU carburetor setup from a Jaguar 420 is offered along with the car, and although it is missing its choke linkages and was never installed on this E-Type, it comes with three rebuild kits. An owner's manual and tire changing tools are also included in the sale.
This car is registered in California, comes with a clean title and is exempt from smog certification.
