Rust free restored California van with Car Craft 1776cc engine!
This classic T2 deluxe van with chrome trim has always called California
home. Rescued by its previous owner from a hilltop in Sonora California, it
under went an extensive four-year full restoration from 2014-2018 to make
it more road worthy and a great looking everyday driver.
A new Car Craft 1776cc engine was installed which increased the power of
the van compared to the original underperforming 1600cc engine. A new
case, new heads, Engle 100 cam, Pertronix ignition, upgraded alternator, a
38mm single carb were all added. Every thing that needed to be repaired
and couldn't be rebuilt was replaced using only German or original VW
parts when available. All records and receipts of the work done are
available.
When rescued the body was in good condition with no record of the vehicle
ever being in an accident. Before it was professionally painted all the doors
and glass windows were removed and the engine bay emptied. A small
piece on the driver and passenger floorboard was replaced along with the
panel under the battery in the engine bay.

The two-tone bus was repainted to its original classic Niagara Blue color
while the upper portion of the body was changed from Alpine white to a
vintage cream color. A new windshield was installed, along with all new
rubber molding in the doors and windows.

The van comes with a new clutch, resurfaced flywheel. It has new front
Disc brakes, new calipers, rotors and pads, new wheel bearings, new
brakes hoses and master cylinder, new ball joints, and a rebuilt steering
box.
The transmission is not rebuilt but it is in good working condition and shifts
smoothly. New wheel bearings are in the back, new wheel cylinders, brake
drums and brake shoes along with a new drive shafts. Nothing was
overlooked. You can get into this bus and drive it anywhere.
The interior seats were done in top quality, black vinyl basket weave style
VW upholstery. The headliner was made to match the original VW pattern
and treated to look great for years. Also added, were new door panels, new
rubber floor mat front and rear, new cargo mat, new rubber mats under
driver and passenger seats, a ZVW bed kit was installed as the rear seat
which also can rotate down and turn the rear seat into a bed. The bus also
has new door handles, new mirrors, new steering wheel, new deluxe
molding. This was a full restoration.
Finally, a few modern conveniences were added to make driving the bus
more enjoyable like new white sidewall tires, a Pioneer CD RDS Receiver
with in dash speaker and a USB ports, 2 alpine S-S50 speakers mounted
below the dash on the front trim panel. A 12 volt, 2-speed electric heater was installed for heating the driving cabin and providing warm air to defrost the front windshield. Early 1970's buses had no defroster.
This beautifully restored 1971 VW Bus also has Powder coated rims with
chrome rings added for an eye-catching look. It was recently awarded 1 st
Place in a local car show as “The Best Classic”. You'll get plenty of smiles!
